Orange Sierra Leone Unveils 2024 CSR Report on Economic Growth and Community Transformation


Orange Sierra Leone has published its 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report, highlighting major achievements in national development, digital advancement, environmental sustainability, and community well-being.

The report reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting government priorities and improving lives through inclusive and responsible business practices.

Strong Economic Contribution and Local Empowerment

In 2024, Orange Sierra Leone contributed NLe781 million directly to the national economy through taxes, licenses, wages, and other statutory payments. The company also played a vital role in supporting Sierra Leonean businesses, generating NLe998 million in revenue for local suppliers across multiple sectors. This aligns with Orange’s strategy to prioritize local partnerships and strengthen domestic value chains.

Expanding Digital Inclusion Nationwide

A major highlight of the report is the expansion of digital access across the country. In 2024, 95% of the population was covered by 4G broadband, enabling more Sierra Leoneans to access online services, education, and business opportunities. To ensure network resilience and reduce carbon emissions, approximately 70% of Orange’s network sites are now solar-powered, reflecting the company’s investment in clean and sustainable energy.

Environmental Commitment Through Reforestation

Orange also advanced its environmental commitments, planting 10,000 trees in Kawase Hill, Moyamba District. This reforestation effort is aimed at restoring degraded land, protecting biodiversity, and supporting climate resilience in rural communities.

Youth Empowerment Through Skills and Innovation

The Orange Digital Center (ODC) continued to serve as a national hub for education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. In 2024 alone, the ODC trained over 14,500 young people in digital literacy, coding, entrepreneurship, and technology-based skills.

  • Women represented 47% of total trainees, reflecting the company’s drive toward gender inclusion.
  • 38% of beneficiaries secured job opportunities or started income-generating activities, demonstrating the centre’s impact on employability.

Community Impact Through the Orange Sierra Leone Foundation

Through its foundation, Orange impacted 14,627 beneficiaries across the country with programmes focused on education, health, women’s empowerment, youth development, and community resilience. Initiatives included scholarships, rural school support, digital education for girls, maternal health partnerships, breast cancer awareness, and emergency community support projects.

The CSR Report emphasizes Orange Sierra Leone’s dedication to supporting the government’s development agenda especially in digitalization, youth employment, community health, and economic sustainability. GTBank Sierra Leone Unveils Bigger and Better Kip For D Bambai Reloaded, Deposit And Win Promotion


Guaranty Trust Bank Sierra Leone (GTBank SL) is pleased to announce the second edition of its popular savings and reward promotion “Kip For D Bambai Reloaded.”

This year’s edition promises even more exciting prizes for new and existing customers who make fresh deposits and maintain them in their accounts within each month through the campaign.

She mentioned that draws will be held every month to select the winners and a grand draw will be held in January 2025, after the promotion ends in December 2024.

GTBank’s Head of Retail Banking, Victor Cleveland, explained the participation process, saying customers simply need to deposit and save money in their accounts to qualify for the chance to win.

He said: “This promotion is open to both new and existing customers. To be eligible, customers can deposit and maintain balances ranging from NLe 250 to NLe 25,000. For new or existing customers without a GTBank MasterCard, they can obtain one instantly and use it at least 3 times in a month. Furthermore, inactive and zero balance accounts can participate by depositing and maintaining NLe 250 or more monthly.

“During the grand draw, all existing customers who maintain the highest new balance exceeding NLe 25,000 over the six months will be eligible.”

GTBank SL Managing Director, Mr. Ade Adebiyi assured all that the promotion will go a long way in rewarding their customers for saving funds with the bank.

Spark Media, Sierra Leone’s top notch video production company based in Freetown, redefining the standards of quality and excellence has unveiled it top –notch Sydney studio in the heart of Cold Farm, Freetown on Sunday 2nd September 2023.

Speaking on the rationale behind naming the Facility as Sydney Studio, CEO of Spark Media, Joe L Aruna Confirmed Sydney Ebenezer Johnson was one of the founders of Spark Media and was a thriving entrepreneur with a promising talent. He acknowledges that Sydney made a mark in the media and film production Industry in Atlanta although his life and career was cut short by liver cancer in America. He described his friend as someone with a dedicated sense of fairness and humility on and off the set. The cutting of the ribbon was officially done by the mother of the late man.

He recalled that when he came back to Sierra Leone in 2019 and type Google all that comes up about the country is Negative Press and chaos. He admonished all those that have lived in the diaspora to come back home and contribute instead of complaining that the country is bad and they are not doing anything to change the narrative.

My own little way to change the narrative is to come back home and set up an entity like this to help change the narrative. The team that are selected I carefully selected them and so far they are young and dynamic and I’m really pleased with them” he stated.

The CEO confirmed that he has lived in the United States of America for the past 20 years and there are places in America without running water but these places will not appear on the movies or CNN. However, he affirmed that Sierra Leoneans are so focused to Promote negative image whether for political reasons or for any other reasons thereby creating a negative space. He emphasized that one way to change the narrative is for us all to make a conscious efforts to know that everything we put out is brand. He added that in future, he would like to see quality videos show up on the Internet whenever somebody type Sierra Leone not just from Spark Media but also from other media Outlets.

Foday Issadin Kamara , Co-founder of Spark Media expressed his excitement for the unveiling and appreciates the various guests for gracing the occasion. He described the studio as first class that seeks to redefine the meaning of excellence and quality. He revealed that their intention is not only to create a video that will inspire many but also videos that will tell the positive story of a country. He described Media as a very vital platform for restructuring of the county global image. He made an analogy that their CEO has lived in America, and  always tells them that America is not perfect but they can only show you what they want you to see So Spark Media can do the same for Sierra Leone.
