Chicken Town Sierra Leone Announces Price Adjustment Over Rising Commodity Costs

Chicken Town Sierra Leone has announced a slight increase in the prices of its food and drinks, effective Oct. 1, citing rising costs of essential market commodities.

In a customer notice, the food and beverage business said the adjustment is driven by continued increases in the cost of key ingredients and supplies used in its operations.

The new prices will take effect on Oct. 1, 2026. The company did not disclose specific percentage increases or a revised price list.

Management described the adjustment as modest, saying it reflects broader market pressures affecting food service businesses across the country.

Chicken Town Sierra Leone said it remains committed to maintaining quality food and service despite the price changes.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we remain committed to serving you quality food and excellent service,” the notice stated.

Price adjustments among food vendors and restaurants have become common in urban areas of Sierra Leone, as businesses respond to fluctuations in commodity prices, transport costs, and supply chain pressures.

No Price Increase New TikTok Bundle Introduced to Enhance Customer Experience


In response to recent public concerns regarding changes in data bundle offerings, Africell Sierra Leone has officially clarified that no data prices have been increased, and that all current prices remain unchanged. According to the Communications Manager, Kamanda, the company has instead introduced a new TikTok bundle to give subscribers more flexible and entertaining data options.

The Manager further emphasized that while the 1Mbps weekly bundle was discontinued, the daily 1Mbps plan has been retained, and other bundles have remained untouched in both pricing and quality. “There has been no price increase. We have only realigned some packages to reflect customer preferences and usage trends. Our new TikTok bundle is a direct response to the growing demand for platform-specific data access,” he stated.



The explanation comes amidst reports circulating online and on social media accusing major telecom operation.

Sierra Leone Tops West Africa in Highest Food Price Inflation


A recent World Bank Food Security Update has ranked Sierra Leone top in the list of countries to have recorded the highest Price Inflation in West Africa.

The study covers a period of three months starting from March to June 2023.

Awoko Newspaper reported that Sierra Leone is at the apex after Nominal Food Inflation surged to a new peak of 58 percent. The West African nation surpasses its previous peak which was 56 percent.



The new data shows that Sierra Leone is at the top alongside West African neighbours, Ghana.

According to World Bank, the calculations include the use of Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the overall data of the CPI.

Experts have said that the country’s food inflation is affecting the majority of low and middle income earners.

The government acknowledged that the country is undergoing one of its worst economic shocks due to the protracted effect of the Ukraine war and other factors.

Most of the countries affected by food inflation are in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Venezuela ranked top of the list in World Nominal Food Inflation with a score of 414 while Zimbabwe leads in Real Food Inflation with a score of 80.

Sierra Leone scores 58 in Nominal Food Inflation and 13 in Real Food Inflation.
